It seems like it didn't get all that much national media attention. What a shame.

They'll be sure to report on anything negative, though. Especially involving Coach Cal.

What the Haiti situation and the US response to it shows is it is NOT NECESSARY for government to provide ALL the relief. (The New Orleans levee break). Private donations and faith based organizations are lifting the heaviest load. The government is providing transportation, security, and distribution, as it should. When President Bush was asked to compare this with Katrina, he said, "It takes time to get the help to the people that need it." Obama is realizing that now. Of course, he's not dealing with a mayor and governor who would not allow help to arrive without them getting credit for it.

With the exception of Dr. Bill Frist, the former Republican Senate Majority Leader, who is performing surgery on earthquake victims in Haiti, have you noticed the Democratic politicians (Clinton and Pa. Governor Ed Rendell) who are showing up in Haiti for nothing more than photo ops, while hindering the relief operation because their airplanes are given priority for landing clearance and parking spaces? (i.e., a C17 for orphan rescue when thousands are dying from lack of food, water, and medical care)
