A Look Back

A Season To Remember (35-3) And A Team To Remember

SCHEDULE & RESULTS Kate Cornell's first season as a Cat fan was a memorable one. My best memories of this past season - the webcasts with Justin & Kacey (The next best thing to having them in the room) seeing little Kate decked out in her KY attire and enjoying each game with Mary, Lyndsey & Andrew. KY Basketball = quality family time. Next season we will be seeing little B-Dub in his KY attire.
Coach Cal did an absolute amazing job! The team had fun and we had fun watching them. KY basketball is again a force to be with reckoned with. Here's to a great season!! FROM A YEAR AGO

An Example of a Great Government Program - US Postal Service

Washington, D.C.—The U.S. Postal Service is expected to deliver this month a plan to eliminate Saturday delivery, according to Postal Regulatory Commission Chairman Ruth Y. Goldway.Testifying Thursday before a Senate appropriations subcommittee, Goldway said the submission of such a plan would trigger “established procedures” to analyze the plan, including public testimony. In addition to feedback from individuals and businesses in Washington, opinion also may be solicited through “field hearings” by the PRC in various parts of the country, she said.Goldway said the PRC would issue its opinion about five-day postal delivery six to nine months after the testimonial phase is concluded.
Is the decision really that difficult? WASHINGTON—The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) ended the first quarter of this fiscal year (Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2009) with a net loss of $297 million! It will take them another 4 quarters of 300 million dollar losses each to figure they should do something. Just one day less for junk mail and bills as far as I'm concerned.

UK....yawn...Crushes East Tennessee.....yawn...

Looking every bit like the No.1 seed in the East Region and a national title contender, UK stepped on 16th seed East Tennessee State 100-71.
TOM'S TAKE Tom's Take: ballin' with Bledsoe
Remember a few weeks back when coach Cal talked about the "dog days" of the season and having to push through till March Madness started. Well, the Cats last night looked like a team that got what they were waiting for--the big dance--and they relished the chance to step on that big stage. With Eric Bledsoe (29 points) breaking Jack Givens' single-game record for points by a freshman in an NCAA game, Kentucky left no doubt about the outcome almost from the start and if this is an indication of the mindset of these players. You have to feel really good about the chances of finally getting back to the Final Four. Interesting comments from coach Cal in my postgame radio interview regarding the importance of Bledsoe: "his energy, his intensity, his aggressiveness--drives us. When you have him playing that way and Deandre coming off the bench with that energy, we're bringing it a lot of different ways right now."

Bobby Knight - One Strange Dude

Won’t Bob Knight even say the word Kentucky?
Published March 14 from John Clay - Lex Herald Leader
You might find this interesting. A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were watching Kansas playing somebody. The TV broadcast crew was Bob Knight and Brent Mussberger. During the broadcast and usually during time-outs, they would do promos about upcoming games. They did a couple that day with UK and an upcoming opponent. After the last promo involving UK, my wife said something to the effect: Did you notice that neither Bob Knight or nor Brent Mussberger ever said the word “Kentucky”.They would dance around it by referring to that first place team in the SEC or something to that effect but, they would not say the word “Kentucky”. Well,we just watched Kansas beat Kansas State and the game was broadcast by Bob Knight and Brent Mussberger. Guess what? They did it again! At no time did they say the word “Kentucky” during a promo. They would say Georgia Tech vs. Duke and Mississippi State vs. the regular season SEC winner but, they would never say “Kentucky”. Think maybe Bob Knight had something to do with that? Our only explanation was that they must suffer from “Wildcat Phobia”. It was kinda funny, really.

Look At Me! I Hit The Winning Shot....And I Hit Ramon Harris In The Face.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Kentucky is king of the Southeastern Conference once again. The Cats won their 26th SEC Tournament championship in thrilling fashion, beating Mississippi State 75-74 in overtime in front of 20,082 fans at Bridgestone Arena. DeMarcus Cousins' putback with no time remaining sent the game to overtime and John Wall's leaning three-pointer over two defenders gave UK just enough cushion to beat State in extra time for the second time this season. While John Wall was running down the floor in celebration, he inadvertently smacked Harris in the face. Hilarious....

This Is Fun!

SEC TOURNEY: UK 74, TENN. 45
John Wall celebrated an Eric Bledsoe three-pointer as Kentucky defeated Tennessee to advance to Sunday's Southeastern Conference tournament finals in Nashville. KY plays Miss State in the finals on ABC - 1pm eastern, tomorrow. The crowd in Nashville today was amazing! We were playing TN in Nashville which happens to be in the state of TN. KY filled the place up. It had to be 85% KY fans. They even shouted down the TN band when they tried to play Rocky Top. One of the TN players said that whenever KY plays it's like the million man march.

The Meltdown of the Climate Farce

It is increasingly clear that the leak of the internal emails and documents of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in November has done for the climate change debate what the Pentagon Papers did for the Vietnam war debate 40 years ago—changed the narrative decisively. STORY

Tim Tebow Can't Help You Now

KY defeats Florida again. Final - 74-66. Plus KY wins their 44th SEC Championship. Will Florida even make it to the NCAA Tourney? Florida has not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2007 and they're definitely a bubble team again. Meanwhile the Cats go to 29-2 overall and are pretty much assured a # 1 seed in the NCAA tourney. I spoke with one gator fan today who doesn't even watch the gator's basketball games anymore.

UK Getting More Aggressive - Goes To 28-2!

3rd ranked KY captured at least a share of their 44th SEC Championship with their 80-68 win at Georgia. To win the SEC outright, they need to take out the struggling Gators at Rupp Arena this Sunday at 12noon on CBS.
