This was my first time watching the Cats this year. Not a pretty game. I watched Kansas later in the day and they looked like a Final Four team. The Cats did not, in my opinion. Also, I had to agree with the commentators. Cousins should have been thrown out for his forearm to the head. I think the refs would have thrown him out were it not for the fact they were in Rupp Arena. They probably feared for their lives. My initial impression of the Cats was not good. They seemed arrogant and diva-like. (Sorry) Bledsoe's outburst and Cousins' actions were uncalled for. Wall did not appear to be the super man he's made out to be. I'm afraid they're prime for an upset in SEC play. Just one man's opinion.

A. Check this link out and you'll see why Cousins became so aggressive (notice the knee to the head by the Louisville player)Something the half ass CBS announcers missed.

B. It was the worst officiated game I have ever seen. Bledsoe fouled absolutely no one (we replayed it 3 times) and he was responding to trash talk coming from Sosa of Louisville.
C. Wall is superman but even superman has an off day
D. If you're looking for a very good team with no thugs, you won't find one
E. In my opinion, Texas is the best team in the country, Kansas is #2 and KY is #3. Too bad you missed KY's wins over North Carolina & Connecticut. Both wins were very impressive and Wall lived up to the hype.

Like Cal said, if you weren't in the building, it's not really fair to judge what happened last night. The UofL players were bumping into UK players in the warmup lines, and when it was time to shake hands before the jump ball to start the game, the UofL players wouldn't even acknowledge the UK players.

Bledsoe should have shut up when Cal was sitting him down, but the trash talking was a two-way street and the UofL player (I'm pretty sure it was Delk and not Sosa) kept going after Bledsoe after he was out of the game. Cousins got kneed in the head and reacted in a relatively tame manner considering that. No one is talking about the knee to the head (I didn't even see it until someone posted the link that Dad posted).

UK fans are just glad to see the swagger back in the program. Call it arrogance if you want, but after the last four years, it is more than welcome for the greatest college basketball program of all time.

The thugs of the game were dressed in red. Pitino had a great gameplan...be physical and constantly foul to try to get the Cats out of their rhythm. It almost worked. Pitino teams are infamous for fouling so much that the refs just stop calling it, because they can't call everything. He did it at Kentucky, and he does it at Louisville.

I've seen Kansas look like crap this year too. You can't judge a team by one game, especially a rivalry game with as much emotion as this one. They'll be fine.

I had a sneaky feeling I would get pummeled for my comments. All I know is what I saw, which was Cousins forearming a guy in the face who was laying flat on his back. If Pitino told his players to come into Rupp Arena and be thugs, then he's not the coach they say he is. Players get called for fouls all the time when they don't foul anyone, but the champions keep their mouth shut even if someone is trash talking them. I don't buy the premise that you need thugs to be a good team - especially in college ball. If they come across to somewhat impartial observers such as myself as "divas" on national TV, then there's a good reason for it. Personally, I think it's the coach's fault. Also, I didn't notice any bias with the refs or the commentators. I guess I'm just a little disappointed in what I saw of the UK basketball team after looking forward to watching them the 1st time this year. If they're going to be national champions, then they should act like it whether or not they like the referee or the other players. That's all.

Name one very good college basketball team without a thug.

Sorry BYU is not a "very good" team. Not even in the top 20.

Number 23 out of 347 teams is very good. And having no thugs makes them an excellent team in my opinion.

I will continue to root for KY as Coach Cal works hard to mold and shape the lives of young men who really are looking for a mentor and guidance as they go to the Final Four You root for the Mormons. OK? :)
