An Example of a Great Government Program - US Postal Service

Washington, D.C.—The U.S. Postal Service is expected to deliver this month a plan to eliminate Saturday delivery, according to Postal Regulatory Commission Chairman Ruth Y. Goldway.Testifying Thursday before a Senate appropriations subcommittee, Goldway said the submission of such a plan would trigger “established procedures” to analyze the plan, including public testimony. In addition to feedback from individuals and businesses in Washington, opinion also may be solicited through “field hearings” by the PRC in various parts of the country, she said.Goldway said the PRC would issue its opinion about five-day postal delivery six to nine months after the testimonial phase is concluded.
Is the decision really that difficult? WASHINGTON—The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) ended the first quarter of this fiscal year (Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2009) with a net loss of $297 million! It will take them another 4 quarters of 300 million dollar losses each to figure they should do something. Just one day less for junk mail and bills as far as I'm concerned.
