Looking every bit like the No.1 seed in the East Region and a national title contender, UK stepped on 16th seed East Tennessee State 100-71.
TOM'S TAKE Tom's Take: ballin' with Bledsoe
Remember a few weeks back when coach Cal talked about the "dog days" of the season and having to push through till March Madness started. Well, the Cats last night looked like a team that got what they were waiting for--the big dance--and they relished the chance to step on that big stage. With Eric Bledsoe (29 points) breaking Jack Givens' single-game record for points by a freshman in an NCAA game, Kentucky left no doubt about the outcome almost from the start and if this is an indication of the mindset of these players. You have to feel really good about the chances of finally getting back to the Final Four. Interesting comments from coach Cal in my postgame radio interview regarding the importance of Bledsoe: "his energy, his intensity, his aggressiveness--drives us. When you have him playing that way and Deandre coming off the bench with that energy, we're bringing it a lot of different ways right now."

Very, very good win. Glad we're playing Wake and not Texas.
I think Kansas was doing some yawnin' prior to the Northern Iowa game. Better stay awake, boys.
